State Secretary Markus Wolf chaired the meetings of the Supervisory Board of Häfen Rheinland-Pfalz GmbH and the Administrative Board of Landeseigene Anlagen an Wasserstraßen (BLAW), the entity through which the state’s interests in the ports are consolidated. The meetings held on 30 June 2026 were the first board meetings chaired by State Secretary Markus Wolf.

Following the formation of the new state government after the Rhineland-Palatinate state election on 18 May 2026, Markus Wolf was appointed State Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior, for Integration and Transport of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate. He was subsequently appointed Chairman of the state’s port governing bodies.

The board meetings were followed by an exchange with the company’s management and a tour of the port facilities in Ludwigshafen.

“I am very much looking forward to my new role as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Häfen Rheinland-Pfalz GmbH and Chairman of the Administrative Board of BLAW. Our ports are far more than transshipment hubs for goods. They are high-performance business locations, key nodes in modern logistics chains, and an important pillar of sustainable transport policy,” said State Secretary Markus Wolf on the occasion of his first meeting in the two governing bodies. “Anyone seeking to shift more freight transport to rail and inland waterways must consistently strengthen ports as interfaces between different modes of transport. Together with the stakeholders on site, I look forward to further developing the port locations in Rhineland-Palatinate and providing new momentum for growth, innovation, and climate-friendly logistics,” Wolf added.

Alexander Voigt commented:

“We are delighted to welcome State Secretary Markus Wolf as the new Chairman of our Supervisory Board and as Chairman of the Administrative Board of BLAW. The ports of Rhineland-Palatinate are a key component of the state’s transport infrastructure. We look forward to a successful future collaboration and are confident that, together, we can provide important impetus for the further development of the port locations in Rhineland-Palatinate.”

Häfen Rheinland-Pfalz GmbH manages the state-owned port locations in Ludwigshafen, Wörth, and Lahnstein, thereby making a significant contribution to strengthening Rhineland-Palatinate as a business and logistics hub. Together with the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and BLAW, the company is committed to the sustainable development of port infrastructure and to safeguarding the long-term competitiveness of inland ports.
