At the RhineCleanUp, the two cities will once again compete against each other. Associations, initiatives, and citizens are jointly setting a strong example for clean riverbanks.

Following two successful events in recent years, the Cleanup Challenge is entering the next round: on 18 April 2026, Mannheim and Ludwigshafen will once again compete against each other – with a shared goal: to clear the banks of the Rhine of waste and send a visible signal for environmental and water protection.

The initiative is supported by numerous associations and initiatives from the region. Participants include the Adler Mannheim and the Eulen Ludwigshafen. The network continues to grow: MERC Ice hockey, HLZ Friesenheim-Hochdorf, and the Mad Dogs Mannheim are also taking part with their teams.

There are also new additions among the initiatives: alongside Surfrider Baden-Pfalz, who have supported the Cleanup Challenge from the outset, the Stadtfüchse Ludwigshafen will be participating for the first time this year.

All citizens are invited to take part and get actively involved. Participants are asked to bring gloves; all other materials will be provided on site.
